Danish power conversion startup raises funds, appoints CEO
Miniature power module supplier Lotus Microsystems ApS (Copenhagen, Denmark) has raised 60 million Danish krone (about US$8.6 million) in funding and appointed experienced chip executive Hans Hasselby-Andersen as CEO.
The funding comes from Noon Ventures and the European Innovation Council, and will allow Lotus Microsystems to advance R&D and enter into collaborations, the company said.
Lotus is a fabless manufacturer of highly-integrated power converters that are based on a patented silicon interposer technology, and allowing delivery in IC packaging. The companys was founded in 2020 by Yasser Nour, Hoa Le Thanh, and Ahmed Ammar, as a fabless manufacturer specializing in highly integrated power converters. The founding team completed their Ph.D. degrees at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), with specialties in power electronics, integrated circuit design, and nanofabrication.
Hasselby-Anderson was the founder of Merus Audio, which he sold to Infineon in 2018 for an undisclosed amount of money (see Infineon purchases Merus Audio). He previously served as R&D manager at Toccata Technology, a pioneer in class-D audio amplifiers, which was later acquired by Texas Intruments. Hasselby-Anderson held various positions at Texas Instruments within the Digital Audio business unit.
“Lotus Microsystems has a unique technology that pushes the frontiers for power density and thermal performance. Such technology is demanded by a wide range of applications, from high-performance computing to mobile devices, in other words, from AI to AI on the edge. I am very pleased to join this talented team on their journey to bring this breakthrough tech to the market,” said Hasselby-Andersen, in a statement.
