These micro-sized step-down converters are among the smallest in their class with 0.4-A and 0.7-A output current. A power circuit can be created by simply adding two ceramic capacitors. The converters’ internal coil simplifies board layout and makes it possible to minimise unwanted radiated noise.
The XCL223/XCL224 devices operate from an input voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. Output voltage is selectable from 0.8V to 3.6V in steps of 0.05V, accurate to within ±2.0%. Switching frequency is 3.0 MHz with either PWM control (XCL223) or PWM/PFM auto-switching control (XCL224). Torex’s HiSAT-COT enables greater suppression of frequency fluctuations caused by the load and input voltage, resulting in fast transient response times.
