Delta shows AI manufacturing lines for datacentre power systems
Delta has shown a range of power systems for AI datacentres that are built on an AI-enabled production line.
The Power Capacitance Shelves and in-row 1.5MW liquid-to-liquid Coolant Distribution Units (CDU) use the Nvidia Omniverse and Isaac Sim tools for cyber-physical integration for smart production processes.
Delta has developed five smart production scenarios of PC boards assembly. The AI-based Smart Manufacturing Demo Line combines Delta’s D-Bot series Collaborative Robots (cobots), Omni inserter, Integra modular glue dispensing machine, DIATwin digital twin system, and IIoT-based Line Manager platform with the Omniverse and Isaac Sim software. This enables cyber-physical production with virtual reality synchronization, virtual commissioning and product parameter input. Smart production recipe generation and management and automated production line changeover with automated collision avoidance improve the flexibility and efficiency of the manufacturing lines.

The IIoT-based Line Manager enables remote control, autonomous production line operations, and data analytics. By uploading product recipe parameters to Line Manager, manufacturers can quickly changeover between different product manufacturing processes while dynamically optimizing process parameters such as processing route and speed, achieving seamless automated mixed-model production.

The company has developed power and cooling solutions for AI data centres, including designs with Nvidia for their Blackwell and Rubin GPU architectures, as well as a smart manufacturing demo line integrated with AI technologies.
Delta has developed a Power Capacitance Shelf to provide a stable power supply for AI and cloud computing servers. This uses lithium-ion capacitors (LIC) with a 5 second hold up time for a 15kW load to perform fast charge and discharge. This mitigates the GPU dynamic load changes that can be reflected back into the AC electricity grid and cause problems. The 1RU 66kW AC-DC Server Power Shelf for 19in racks provides efficiency up to 97.5%.
AI servers commonly occupy up to 75% all the rack space, leaving limited room for power supply, backup power, and power capacitance systems. Delta has developed an HVDC server power system with Nvidia to boost the power delivery. The system combines a new 72kW AC-DC Server Power Shelf that converts 400-480Vac from the transformer to 800Vdc with efficiency up to 98% while a new 90kW DC-DC Server Power Shelf converts 800Vdc back down to 50Vdc with efficiency as high as 98.5%. Parallel HVDC Modules for 800Vdc to 50/12Vdc power conversion then enable a power density up to 2,500W/inch3.
For 48V backup power, an Inverter Power System for 2.5kVA/230Vac, the first to the ORV3 standard, is combined with a 2RU compact 22kW Battery Backup System to provide support for up to 60 seconds as well as smoothing out surge loads.
Delta has used this expertise for the Nvidia MGX modular platform. This is using a 1400A busbar as well as a 42RU manifold that supports over 100 different configurations.
