The scope of the technologies involved includes image recognition based on image processing as well as deep learning. The goal of the cooperation is developing surround monitoring systems such as electronic rear view mirrors and other advanced driving support systems that use image processing technology. Other examples where image recognition technologies are applied to increase traffic safety are pedestrian and cyclist identification systems that typically are linked to emergency braking systems. While Denso did not elaborate, insiders believe this could be another topic for future systems development at the tier one supplier.
The deep learning technology Denso wants to access through Morpho will be used in basic research for automated driving, the companies said in a press release.
In addition, the partners signed a share subscription agreement in which Denso will subscribe to all new shares to be issued by Morpho. This equals an investment into the technology company in unknown amount.
