This offering from Denso is a global V2X platform for car-makers’ mass market projects and will initially target the North America market.
V2X communication connects vehicles to other vehicles (V2V), to infrastructure (V2I), to motorcycles (V2M) and to pedestrians (V2P) within wireless range for safety and mobility applications. It complements the information of other sensors, especially in situations of non-line-of-sight as information can be rapidly dispersed through a network. This is also useful in bad weather or poor lighting conditions.
Autotalks’ next generation chipset includes a modem, support for dual-antenna RX/TX diversity, elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) message verification and a hardware security module (HSM).
Autotalks current chips include the Craton (ATK4100) V2X processor and Pluton (ATK3100) RF transceiver. The Craton2 is dual-core ARM processor designed as a fully functional, standalone V2X ECU, but designed for retrofit and aftermarket installation. The company did not provide information about the chipset that Denso will use.
