Design win for Cypress’ USB 3.0 controller: streams full-HD video
The HD820-SN6300 camera streams video at full HD resolution and offers 20x optical zoom. The camera uses the FX3 as a USB 3.0 device bridge with 5-Gbps bandwidth. This enables it to stream HD video without requiring compression, which degrades image quality.
Cypress claims EZ-USB FX3 as the industry’s only programmable USB 3.0 peripheral controller. It is equipped with a configurable General Programmable Interface (GPIF II), which can be programmed in 8-, 16-, and 32-bit configurations. GPIF II allows FX3 to communicate directly with application processors, FPGAs, and image sensors and provides data transfer rate at up to 400 Megabytes per second. Oneking has built a product with 1080 progressive scan and 30 frames per second streaming, with no need for any buffering.
EZ-USB FX3 comes in two packages: a 121-ball BGA (10 x 10 mm) and a space saving 131-ball Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP) with dimensions of 4.7 x 5.1 mm.
