The MGC3130 claims to be the world’s first single-chip 3D gesture/free space position tracking solution.  The MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit is a complete MGC3130 reference system, consisting of a MGC3130 Module and one example reference electrode.  With several additional reference electrode designs, the Aurea Graphical User Interface Software, and an I2C to USB Bridge Module, the MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit enables an easy design-in of the MGC3130 into several different form factors.

The GestIC Technology enabled with the MGC3130 serves a wide range of applications in the computing (e.g., laptops, keyboards, input devices); lighting (e.g., lighting switches and controls); consumer-electronic (e.g., audio docks, printers and copiers); and automotive markets (e.g., automotive interior controls), among others.  The Hillstar Development Kit provides designers with the path to integrate Microchip’s industry-leading technology in their applications, in the shortest possible time.

“The MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit enables customers to integrate an advanced 3D hand- position and gesturing user interface to virtually any electronic product,” said Steve Drehobl, vice president of Microchip’s MCU8 Division.  “The modular approach, with complete documentation, reference layouts, hardware and a software GUI, follows Microchip’s philosophy of providing world-class tools for the broad engineering community.”

Availability and Pricing

The Hillstar Development Kit is priced at $179.00.  The MGC3130 Configurable 3D Gesture Controller is shipping in production volumes.
