Dialog offers Bluetooth chip for as little as 50 cents
Dialog is also introducing the DA14531 module to simplify product development and enable wider adoption.
The chip is also known as the SmartBond Tiny and comes in packaging down to 2.0mm by 1.7mm. It has high integration and requires six external passives, a clock source and a power supply to operate. The chip is based on the Cortex-M0+ with integrated memories and analog and digital periperhals.
The chip is expected to extend wireless connectivity to a generation of equipment including the medical field such as inhalers, medicine dispensers, weight scales, thermometers, glucose meters and so on. It can also find a place in shelf labels, radio beacons, RFID tags, cameras, printers and wireless routers, toys, keyboards and smartcards.
The module allows users to take a pre-certified design and comes at prices as low as $1 per unit, while saving development time and costs.
