Amantys was founded to use digital control as a method to improve the peroformance and efficiency of medium-to-high voltage power applications. The company was founded with backing from Moonray Investors and ARM Holdings plc.

The company introduced a family of gate-driver ICs able to operate IGBT modules at voltages ranging from 1.2kV up to 4.5kV. These were complemented with the Power Insight Adapter, supporting the use of digital communications and control techniques for high-voltage power switching. The company struck deals Fuji Electric, Hitachi and Dynex to develop gate-drivers and in October 2013 received $5 million from strategic investor Avago Technologies Inc. bringing the total raised by Amantys to $20 million.
