Digital signage solution uses 3rd generation Intel Core processors
The system uses Kontron’s COM Express COMe-bIP6 module to give OEMs a modular approach that enables optimized and cost-effective scalability of application-specific implementations in terms of graphics and processing performance. The module approach also offers a clear migration path that developers can source for future digital signage upgrades, future-proofing customers’ technology investments. It integrates the 3rd generation Intel Core processor and the Mobile Intel QM77 Express Chipset.
Kontron’s digital signage solution is fully compliant with the OPS specification created by Intel to help standardize the design and development of digital signage applications that must integrate a diverse range of display technologies.
The digital signage solution features a comprehensive range of externally accessible I/O including Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45, two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI connector and audio jack. It also supports OPS JAE interconnect I/O such as HDMI, DisplayPort and USB 2.0 and 3.0. Integrated Intel vPro technology provides enhanced functionality such as improved security with Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) and increased manageability through Intel Active Management Technology (AMT). It also features 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity, and offers up to 8GB of dual channel DDR3-1600 non-ECC system memory and 80GB mSATA HD integrated storage.
Giving OEMs the cutting-edge features and capabilities needed for more intelligent digital signage systems, Kontron’s OPS solution will deliver excellent performance per watt ratios, an increase in graphics and computing performance, upgraded manageability features and improved security, as well as an increase in uptime provided by remote management capabilities.
Kontron is scheduled to release the product in Q3 2012.
