Dipesh Patel takes over as CTO of ARM
Muller left ARM in September 2019 and left a position as non-executive director of venture capital firm Cambridge Innovation Capital in February 2020. Linkedin states Muller has taken a position as a Fellow at the Royal College of Art in London.
Patel’s Linkedin entry states he has taken the CTO position full time with effect from July 2020.
Patel is based in San Jose, although he gained a first-class honours degree and a PhD from Loughborough University in the UK before joining ARM in 1997.
Patel rose through the engineering ranks rapidly before becoming director of research in 2003. In 2006 Patel transferred to California to become vice president responsible for physical IP. Patel has held multiple leadership positions, including executive vice president responsible for ARM’s IP development infrastructure.
For those that like to read between the lines of such appointments it is notable that while Muller was based in the UK Patel is based in San Jose, where ARM CEO Simon Segars is based. It is also notable that in his previous role Patel was responsible for developing new software and services business.
