
Weak demand for components means DRAM prices are set to fall by 3 to 8 percent in 3Q22 quarter-on-quarter, according to TrendForce.
This is after a fall of between 0 and 5 percent in the 2Q22. Despite this inventories are continuing to build at client companies.
The market researcher said that consumer electronics demand is weak as a result of the war Ukraine. This is also driving inflation which hits consumer confidence. Finally, Covid lockdowns in China have hit production of various types of equipment. For these reasons, prices for DRAMs for personal computers and mobile phones could fall by more than 8 percent, TrendForce said.
Clients’ inventory level for Server DRAM are at 7 to 8 weeks and server DRAM prices are set to drop by 0 to 5 percent in 3Q22. DDR3 and DDR4 prices are forecast to drop by 3 to 8 percent QoQ.
