dSpace secures major contract from BMW
BMW will use the dSpace HiL simulators, which consist of hardware and software components, at development sites worldwide for the simulation, validation and associated comprehensive testing of electronic systems, said dSpace in a press release. Areas of application include electric drives and energy management as well as vehicle dynamics and driver assistance systems. “The added value of these HiL systems is to increase the quality of vehicle electronics and accelerate development,” explained Herbert Schütte, executive vice president of dSpace’s Real-Time Test & Development Solutions.
The agreement provides for the supply of Scalexio-based hardware and software components as well as complete systems. According to the manufacturer, dSpace’s Scalexio real-time test systems with comprehensive bus and network support can be optimally integrated into the development processes of car manufacturers and enable realistic tests as well as highly automated validation of vehicle electronics.
BMW has been using HIL systems from dSpace for more than 25 years and has advanced the development of HIL technology together with the tool manufacturer during this time. “We are very pleased that the BMW Group is once again relying on our expertise in the development of the next generation of vehicles. And it is at the same time an incentive for dSpace to further strengthen and deepen the long-standing partnership and cooperation with the BMW Group,” explained Martin Goetzeler, CEO of the dSpace Group.
The order is one of the largest ever received by dSpace, the company announced in a press release. However, a press spokesperson refiused to give further details about the scope of delivery.
