The module is pre-flashed with u-blox connectivity software, which supports Beacon, GATT client, GATT server and serial port. NINA-B2 has a built-in secure boot feature that ensures that the software is authenticated by u-blox and hasn’t been tampered with. The device has been tested and certified globally and does not require in-depth knowledge of the Bluetooth protocol, being configured simply by AT commands over UART.
NINA-B2 is capable of Bluetooth low energy and Bluetooth BR/EDR operation concurrently. It retains pin-compatible with other members of the u-blox NINA family, allowing it to be easily swapped in or out with other NINA modules. The module measures only 10 x 10.6 x 2.2mm without antenna, and 10 x 14 x 3.8mm with antenna and it should be in production in summer 2018.
