For Eberspächer as a specialist for heating and cooling, it makes sense that connectivity in the vehicle begins with connecting stationary air conditioning systems and heating systems. Because data-based services are playing an increasingly important role, the company has developed its own platform that networks a wide variety of components, explains Jörg Schernikau, Managing Director of Climate Control Systems.

The platform can be operated via a smartphone app. It controls all the manufacturer’s thermal management equipment as well as the additional battery. Humidity and temperature sensors can be used to analyze additional data from the working environment. Thanks to the open platform structure, chassis manufacturers can integrate their own components for their applications if desired.

The company’s scalable lithium-ion-based battery modules supply electric power to the devices at the workplace in the vehicle. For example, measuring instruments or the stationary air conditioner can be operated independently of the engine-dependent power supply and the on-board power supply. This enables low-emission applications in urban use. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the high-performance battery can also be used outside the vehicle for power-based applications such as PCs and other electrical appliances. The app also shows additional fleet management functions. When in use, the driver can use an app to operate the components in the vehicle and call up data such as the battery charge status.

An important business field of the Eberspächer Group are exhaust gas purification systems. Most truck manufacturers in Europe and the USA already rely on Eberspächer for compliance with the emission guidelines. At the IAA, the company will be presenting tailor-made solutions for the clean mobility of tomorrow. These include innovative technologies such as the tunnel mixer for urea mixture preparation in compact, cylindrical systems or oval commercial vehicle canning for optimized space utilization of exhaust systems.
