Alan Cook, Managing Director of Ecarconnectors, commented: “We are seeing growing interest in the Electric Vehicle market and the associated end user and infrastructure products. The new 63 amp rated plug and socket are designed for 3-phase power supplies required for fast charging installations. Protected to IP54 both plug and socket are rated at 63A for 240 and 415VAC. The socket has a spring loaded cover for additional environmental protection, while the plug has a secured dust cover for when not in use and comes supplied as standard with a 5m or 3m 3-phase cable.

The Ecarconnectors second generation ‘Type 2’ plug and socket provide a male socket and a female plug bringing the en 62196-2 more in line with traditional IEC standards. The original ‘Type 2’ connectors had the opposite orientation intended to make the car mounted socket safer to users as initially it had been thought power might be drawn out of the car battery for other purposes.  The new Ecarconnectors ‘Type 2’ plug and sockets are rated at 32 A at 240 VAC with a 2 A/30 V signal current. The plug and Socket are rated to IP54. The Socket has a captive dust cap for protection while not in use and both are designed to meet IEC62196-2

The Ecarconnectors product range includes J1772 and IEC 62196 connectors, cable assemblies offering plug to plug and plug to socket, 3M and 5M cables as standard with custom options for cable length, type and color, domestic chargers and test units for public charging stations
