Eclipse fog05 release brings fog computing closer to reality
The release of fog05 allows the use of decentralization for the exploitation of local computation and keeping data closer to where it is required. It is also able to reduce overall energy consumption. fog05 provides decentralized management, provisioning and monitoring of infrastructure across the Internet.
ADLINK Technology has made ongoing contributions to the Eclipse fog05 project to attempt to provide a platform that is designed from the ground-up to address requirements for edge and fog computing.
Alongside Eclipse fog05, ADLINK’s Advanced Technology Office (ATO) works on core innovations to support Edge and Fog Computing, primarily geo-distributed storage systems and converged data management infrastructures. These technologies are at the core of fog05 and available as platform services to applications such as ADLINK’s zenoh.
Eclipse fog05 is an open-source project that targets highly heterogeneous systems, even resource-constrained nodes.
