Elmos, Cemm Thome join ISELED alliance
Elmos AG develops and manufactures semiconductors and sensors, primarily for use in the automotive industry. The components communicate, measure and control in safety, comfort, powertrain and network functions.
Cemm Thome is part of Amphenol Corporation, one of the largest connector manufacturers worldwide with more than 70,000 employees. The subsidiary Cemm Thome develops and manufactures products for automotive exterior and interior lighting. The product portfolio includes LED lighting systems for ambient and functional lighting as well as connectors and assembled cable sets for outdoor applications.
“The broad spectrum of alliance members from a wide range of industry segments gives ISELED technology an ever-increasing dynamism and expands the range of applications enormously – far beyond the originally intended automotive interior lighting,” says Robert Kraus, CEO of Inova Semiconductors and one of the founding fathers of the ISELED alliance.
ISELED technology is now supported by several leading LED manufacturers, microcontroller suppliers, and Tier 1 automotive suppliers, among others. With the extension of the original ISELED protocol by the new ILaS bus concept (ISELED Light and Sensor Network), the applications for ISELED that benefit from the cost-effective technology will expand even further, Kraus estimates. In the future, the protocol will allow not only LED elements but also other components such as matrix LED lights, sensors and actuators to be controlled in large numbers via a simple two-wire line.
A current innovation in the field of lighting is the E522.95 multi-channel LED controller for external lighting: It is equipped with appropriate network interfaces and can be connected directly to the Body Control Unit via the internal vehicle network – thus eliminating the need for local lighting control units.
