Elmos to reach into the Arm shelf for future automotive MCUs
The next generation of its automotive microcontroller (MCU) products will be based on the Arm Cortex-M processor architectures, Elmos announced. The statement confirms the continuation of a strong partnership between Arm and Elmos for the next five years and beyond. This collaboration addresses the current and future technological needs of automotive suppliers and vehicle manufacturers and enables Elmos to deliver innovative products for critical applications such as ADAS and autonomous driving, dynamic lighting, and thermal management.
“Vehicle architectures are evolving rapidly as OEMs and Tier1s seek to optimise their supply chains, manage costs, increase processing capacity, and maximise software reuse throughout the vehicle,” says Chet Babla, Vice President, Automotive Line of Business at Arm. “Through this long-term partnership, Elmos can access the proven foundation of Arm MCU technology to support their next-generation semiconductors and rapidly execute on an innovative product roadmap.”
“Our long-term collaboration with Arm gives us access to industry-leading IP, such as the Cortex-M23 and Cortex-M33, which are ideally suited for sensing and control applications in the modern vehicle architecture,” said Dr Jan Dienstuhl, CSO at Elmos. “The Arm Cortex-M family has a broad feature set, comprehensive tools and a robust development ecosystem. This improves functionality and accelerates time-to-market for our next generation products.”
