MicroGen Systems Inc., a pioneer of piezoelectric-based vibration energy harvest components has been sold to Wireless Sensor Solutions LLC (Henrietta, NY), a company controlled by David Monks, a managing partner at MicroGen.

Wireless Sensor Solutions has acquired substantially all the assets of MicroGen Systems although the price paid has not been disclosed.

Wireless Sensor Solutions will continue to use the MicroGen Systems brand and intends to work with distributor Arrow Electronics to deliver a configurable IoT wireless sensor platform called Intellus. Each Intellus node will include MicroGen energy harvesting and power management to make it autonomous and perpetual.

“Working collaboratively with the Arrow team, we will deliver the low power solutions that customers need,” said Monks. He added that Arrow and MicroGen would identify ioT applications and turn them into comprehensive preventative maintenance solutions that would be delivered to OEM customers around the world.

Monks said MicroGen is also working with a smart watch company to deliver a charging-free perpetual power supply.
