The combination enables a range of applications for industrial IoT applications such as Smart City, Facility Management, intelligent factory automation or extensive smart client agricultural applications which require especially low energy consumption.

Matrix MXE-110i features a variety of wireless interfaces via the USIM socket, starting with classical Wi-Fi, via BT and LoRa up to 3G and 4G/LTE. LoRaWan (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a wireless network protocol geared to top energy efficiency and energy-savings developed specifically for communication in the Internet of Things.

Two LAN 10/100MbE interfaces, COM ports (RS-232, RS-232/422/485), USB 2.0 hosts and Mini-PCIe slots are available for further data exchange. A factory-installed eMMC (embedded Multimedia Card) serves as a boot-capable storage medium and is suitable for operating systems such as iOS, Android, Windows and Google Chrome OS.

The MXE-110i has a fanless and compact casing with the dimensions 120 (W) x 50 (H) x 100 mm (D). Its robust construction allows use in harsh environments and includes vibration resistance up to 5 Grms, impact resistance up to 100 G, and the extended operating temperature range from -20 up to +70 °C.

The latest IoT gateway technology version from Intel is available for operation, security, scalability, interoperability and administrative improvements as well as extended support for various fieldbus communication protocols such as Modbus (RTU/Ethernet), BACNet, CAN for industrial applications, Exegin, Zigbee, Open Z-Wave and 6LoWPAN for intelligent building control. Further features include support for MQTT, Bluetooth/BLE, CoAP, XMPP device-to-cloud-protocol, as well as AllJoyn and IoTivity (open-source software framework) for direct, seamless connectivity between devices.
