EnOcean partners with ROHM to advance wireless energy harvesting
In addition, ROHM’s long-standing experience in wireless communication as well as low-power ICs and modules gives the perfect basis to further help develop EnOcean’s technology in the future, to address the needs of Japanese customers.
EnOcean modules collect the energy they need for wireless communication from the surrounding environment using motion, light or temperature differentials. This innovative principle of energy harvesting enables ultra-low power sensor networks to operate without cables and batteries. Being maintenance-free and highly flexible, EnOcean products are ideal for countless fields of application, including energy management, building and industry automation, smart home solutions or logistics monitoring. The EnOcean wireless protocol is standardized internationally as ISO/IEC 14543-3-10, the only standard for ultra-low power and energy harvesting wireless solutions.
Following the partnership with EnOcean and as a promoter of the EnOcean Alliance, ROHM will support further development of energy harvesting wireless technology as an international communication standard as well as strengthen marketing and sales of EnOcean modules on the Japanese market.
