Estonia startup begins commercial trials of Li-Fi technology

The Li-Fi technology used by Velmenni in the pilots claims to be capable of sending data at up to 1GBps which is more than 100-times faster than current Wi-Fi technologies. The speed of the technology would mean that a high-definition film could be downloaded in a few seconds.
Velmenni believes the pilot projects could see Li-Fi technology rolled out for consumers within the next three to four years and could enable people to access the internet using the LED light bulbs in their home.
