The new software development kit (SDK) is designed to accelerate and facilitate the integration of electronic control units (ECUs), smart sensors and other edge devices into vehicles using the eSync OTA data pipeline. This allows car manufacturers and tier ones to quickly configure the eSync software to match the requirements of their devices.

The eSync Agent SDK is a downloadable software package available to all eSync Alliance member companies. It includes a template agent with libraries that allow users to create an eSync agent for their specific edge device. It also includes eSync client software for PC or Raspberry Pi devices that acts as a master, and is licensed for installation on up to five computers. Users can test the OTA update functionality of their systems with a hosted account for one month on an eSync server, which can then be extended for additional months.

eSync is a software platform for building secure bi-directional data pipelines between the cloud and in-vehicle electronic devices. eSync can deliver and update software and firmware over-the-air (OTA) and collect real-time operational data from in-vehicle devices such as ECUs, domain master ECUs, network gateways and smart sensors.

Implementing an automotive OTA solution can be complicated because there are a large number of electronic devices on different networks in cars. Integrating all these devices and their software into a single data pipeline also requires extensive verification. The eSync platform provides the standardisation needed to simplify such tasks.
