AMEC stands for Automatable Modular Ethernet Connector. According to Delphi, this product family helps carmakers to “democratize” driver assistance functions by offering such functions in a broad range of vehicle categories including those required to meet SAE level 3 and 4 for partially automated and highly automated driving. Featuring a very compact form factor, the AMEC standard connector can be used in systems with data rates of 100 Mbps and 10 Gbps alike.
The company says it deliberately designed the AMEC Ethernet components on the basis of existing standard products that already meet all relevant requirements and specs. Thus, the Ethernet components can be manufactured in proven production processes and on existing production systems. In addition, this concept eases the task of designing cable looms since they can apply robust installation techniques.
