The EU has signed a cooperation deal with India on 6G technologies as well as a deal to boost talent exchange in semiconductors.

The second meeting of the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) in New Delhi today covered a range of topics across AI, semiconductors, High-Performance Computing and 6G a well as automotive.

This saw a deal to explore joint R&D in the field of chip design, heterogeneous integration, sustainable semiconductor technologies, technology development for advanced processes for process design kit (PDK) and are developing a dedicated programme that will facilitate talent exchanges and foster semiconductor skills among students and young professionals.

A memorandum of understanding between the Bharat 6G Alliance and the EU 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association aims to align research and development priorities for 6G with resilient supply chains, with a particular focus on promoting interoperable global standards as the technology matures.

A second Working Group agreed on joint research calls on recycling of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) with €60m from the Horizon Europe programme and from matching Indian contributions.
