Europe’s research institutes form SEMI partnership
SEMI states that the partnership intends to strengthen industry alignment on technology roadmaps and standards while providing expertise in five “smart” platforms: transportation, medical technology, manufacturing, data curation and IoT.
The intention is to find the common ground that can speed the introduction of products around the confluence of today’s emerging technologies of IoT, 5G and machine learning.
Under the leadership of CEO Ajit Manocha, SEMI has been creating a series of strategic alliance partnerships to try and create the most favourable environment for innovation and growth in the semiconductor industry. IMEC, Leti and the Fraunhofer institutes join the Electronic System Design Alliance (ESD Alliance), FlexTech, the Fab Owners Alliance (FOA) and the MEMS & Sensors Industry Group (MSIG).
