EVE graphics controllers add ASTC functionality
ASTC support allows enhanced image quality without the requirement for greater bandwidth as the algorithm results in smaller compressed files. The enhanced image quality will allow HMIs to be produced that feature larger fonts and more data-heavy images. The BT815/816 devices also feature a second QSPI host port to attach of external Flash memory. The port is only used to access external memory. This frees up the main QSPI port to be used to control the devices and reduce CPU workload.
The BT816 IC supports 4-wire resistive touchscreen displays and the BT815 supports capacitive touchscreens, delivering up to 5 touch-point multi-touch operation. The ICs support resolutions up to 800×600 and support video playback. The built-in hardware engine can recognize touch tags (providing notification for up to 255 tags) and accurately track touch movement. It also supports customized built-in widgets and functionalities – such as ASTC decode, jpeg decode and calibration.
