The VEC40, VEC50, VEC65 and VES90 series of external AC-DC power supplies all comply with the new DoE level VI (US) and CoC Tier 2 (EU) regulations, drawing less than 0.15W for the VEC50 , VEC65 & VES90 and less than 0.075Wfor the lower power VEC40 when in standby, offering average active mode efficiency of 89% or higher and exceeding the 10% load efficiency standard in the EU CoC Tier 2 requirements.

CoC Tier 2 came into force on 1st January 2016, and DoE Level VI takes effect on the 10th February 2016. These new requirements reduce the no-load power to less than 0.15W (50-250W supplies, 0.075W for 1-49W supplies) and push the market towards a flatter efficiency curve, with efficiency readings now required at 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of load. Single output models in the range deliver 12, 15, 19, 24 and 48 VDC.

The supplies, which measure 116.3 x 52.4 x 3.13 mm for the VEC series and 139.0 x 58.0 x 31.0 mm for the VES series, come with a common IEC320-C14 input connector, with VEC series supplies also available with an optional IEC320-C6. The VEC models are approved as an LPS (limited power source), which reduces the risk of shock if incorrectly installed.

The VEC40 and VEC50 have an operating temperature range between 0 and 65C, derating from 45C, the VEC65 and VES90 have an operating temperature range between 0 and 60C, derating from 40C. All models have CCC (China Compulsory Certification) as well as ITE 60950-1 safety approvals and meet Class B limits for both conducted and radiated EMC noise.
