The FM-OPLN fibre optic FACE Module is compatible with the company’s Intel-based Intense PC 2 i5 and Intense PC 2 i7. It incorporates dual SFP+ fibre optics sockets providing LAN 10/100/1000BASE-X Ethernet connectivity, which is compliant with the IEEE 802.3z standard. It also features two additional USB2.0 downstream ports and supports both Windows and Linux operating systems.

The company notes that, “Interest in fibre is growing fast and customers are attracted to the very high data speeds and their immunity to EMI and other interference. Fibre optic network backbones are now quick and simple to install and to upgrade. We have responded by launching a new FACE module allowing a Tiny Green PC fanless machine to be connected directly to a fibre backbone, giving it full access to the performance of this connectivity.”

This is an addition to a range of FACE modules, that includes the PoE FACE module, allowing fanless PCs to power up to four peripherals. The FM-POE FACE module offers 48V 802.3af standard POE so the peripherals can be located up to 100m from the PC. Other modules offer USB 3.0 ports, additional 4 Lan ports, serial ports PCI Express interfaces, video capture and other facilities.
