Farnell stocking new Panasonic Bluetooth 5.0 LE module
Farnell claims it is the only high service distributor in Europe with the module in stock in Europe, ready for same-day despatch.
The 15.6 mm x 8.7 mm x 2 mm module features Bluetooth 5.0 with the qualified Bluetooth mesh profile stack. The module is ideal for IoT devices in smart city infrastructure, industrial mesh networks or robotics. It offers:
• A Cortex M4F processor, 256 kB RAM and build-in 1 MB flash to negate the need for an external processor
• An ultra-low current consumption makes the module useful for designs that are battery powered
• The output power of up to 8 dBm, the high sensitivity of the nRF52840 and the LE coded PHY support applications that need long range
• The ARM TrustZone CryptoCell 310 security subsystem offers a rich set of security features for secure device operation. This makes the module ideal for smart health and secure medical designs.
Bluetooth 5.0 provides a higher symbol rate of 2 Mbps through the high-speed LE 2M PHY with longer range possible using the LE coded PHY at 500 kb/s or 125 kb/s. New LE advertising extensions let larger amounts of data to be broadcast in connectionless scenarios. The PAN1780 also supports Type 2 Near Field Communication (NFC-A) for use in simplified pairing and payment solutions. It required an external antenna for NFC operation.
The module has been designed with an operating temperature range from -40°C up to 85°C. The device also features a built-in temperature sensor.
The Panasonic PAN1780 Bluetooth Low Energy Module is available from Farnell in Europe, element14 in APAC and Newark in North America.
