The European Chips Skills Academy (ECSA) is signing up participants for its second summer school for the region’s electronics industry.

The five day ECS Summer School 2025 will take place at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungary from August 24-29, 2025.

The shortage of skills across the industry has been a key issue for the industry that the summer school is funded to address.

The programme includes interactive workshops, expert-led discussions, networking sessions, and practical insights into the latest microelectronics and semiconductor technologies. Students enrolled in STEM-related fields from universities across the EU or associated countries are invited to apply until 30 April 2025.

Last year’s event at the University of Bologna included sessions from lithography equipment developer ASML, sensor maker Lynred, power chip maker Infineon and processor core developer ARM.

“Initiatives like the ECS Summer School are crucial for inspiring and nurturing the next generation of talent fueling the talent pipeline,” said Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe.

The Academy is an EU-funded project coordinated by Semi Europe in collaboration with industry partners AENEAS, EPoSS, and INSIDE. “The ECS Summer School is an excellent gateway for students to gain practical knowledge and establish valuable industry connections,” said Patrick Cogez, Technical Director at AENEAS.
