Faurecia joins eSync Alliance

The eSync Alliance is a cross-company initiative for end-to-end over-the-air (OTA) updates and data services for the networked vehicle. It is based on eSync, a vendor-independent OTA platform of servers and embedded software that provides a secure bi-directional data pipeline between the cloud and in-vehicle electronic devices. eSync can deliver and update software and firmware over the air, while collecting real-time operational data from in-vehicle devices. By leveraging a global network of cooperating suppliers, the eSync system can help prevent increasingly costly and time-consuming recalls, and provides new opportunities for the automaker to improve vehicle software and functionality on the spot.

Joining the eSync Alliance should enable Faurecia to participate more fully in networked vehicle technology and develop new affordable solutions to improve the user experience in the cockpit of the future. Being part of a larger ecosystem will help the company accelerate the market introduction of new networked technologies and services.

Faurecia’s vision for the cockpit of the future is to create a more versatile, predictive and networked environment that allows occupants to make the most of their time in the vehicle. The connectivity will allow continuous monitoring and upgrading of the vehicle, and will provide passengers with access to a wide range of online services.

Members of the eSync Alliance include cybersecurity specialist Excefore, engineering service provider Mobica and automotive suppliers Alpine, Hella and ZF.
