Fingerprint Cards adds face recognition to portfolio
Fingerprint Cards already offers touch and touchless means of identification, via fingerprint sensing and using a camera for iris recognition respectively.
The solution will initially be developed for smartphones but as Fingerprint Cards expands into other application sectors such as automotive and IoT the system will also be offered there as well.
“We see a growing interest in the smartphone industry for touchless biometric solutions, as well as for combining different biometric modalities, with the main driver being to increase both security and convenience. The addition of face recognition to our iris and fingerprint solutions makes Fingerprints uniquely well-positioned to meet this demand,” said Christian Fredrikson, CEO of Fingerprints, in statement.
Face recognition subsystems from Fingerprint Cards are expected to be integrated in customer products during the second half of 2018.
