Biometrics company Fingerprint Cards AB (Gothenburg, Sweden) has shipped more than 1.5 billion of its sensors since 2014.

Fingerprints was a pioneer in biometric solutions for Android smartphones before beginning a program of strategic diversification into the PC, access control and payments markets. In November 2021 the company split into the Fingerprint Technology Company (FPC) formerly the Mobile business line) in Gothenburg and Fingerprint Cards Switzerland AG (formerly Payments & Access business line).

Fingerprint Cards’ sensors are now integrated into more than 600 smartphone models, a number that has doubled in the last three years. Similarly the company is in 40 different laptop computer models. The company is also the leading supplier of biometric sensors to door lock manufacturers.

Fingerprint Cards is also starting to succeed in biometric payment cards.

“It is gratifying to see the results of our diversification work,” said Christian Fredrikson, CEO of Fingerprint Cards, in a statement. “And with every new market and use case, our total addressable market grows,” he added.
