First independently certified eCall test solution
CETECOM was tasked to examine the public safety answering point (PSAP) implementation in Rohde & Schwarz’s eCall test solution for a pan-European emergency call system. The test body has now certified the solution as compliant with the CEN EN 16454:2015 standard, a prerequisite for tests compliant with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/79. The certification is just in time for the introduction of the EU’s March 31st deadline for automotive manufacturers to include eCall functionality in new vehicles. The R&S CMW-KA094 test solution is the first independently certified test PSAP system based on a wireless communications test platform.
This new certification allows Rohde & Schwarz to offer a compact end-to-end solution for functional testing of eCall modules, as well as ERA-Glonass modules for the Russian satellite system. The new system can be used to test all prescribed conformance tests, which will allow manufacturers to check whether the installed modem properly initiates an emergency call in the event of a motor vehicle accident, correctly acquires the relevant data and sends it via the mobile network, and is able to establish a voice connection to the PSAP.
