First IPX67 two piece waterproof connector for rugged power
Yokowo has developed the first waterproof blade and receptacle connector, constructed with a floating contact design.
Spring-loaded, dual-beam contacts mean the floating contact design absorbs any mating misalignment making the TBR and TBP Series suitable for high vibration/high shock wet or washdown applications.
The waterproof blade and receptacle connectors are designed for battery connections in rugged devices such as tablet PCs, data collection terminals or drones. With IPX7 waterproof rating (submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes), the connectors protect devices and batteries from water ingress damage to the internal electronic components.
The floating contact design eliminates mating misalignment issues. Additionally, the floating contact design absorbs shock and vibrations enabling a steady and secure power connection. Contacts feature a 3A current rating with 50mΩ contact resistance and 2,000 mating cycles.
“The unique design and capability of the floating contact design positions our waterproof connectors for today’s market requirements,” says Yusuke Fujioka, Product Sales Manager for Yokowo. “From body cameras and tablets to barcode readers and drones, this connector series eliminates the possibility of loss of contact or performance during operation.”
