The transmitter supports multiple fast-charging protocols and offers an array of flexible and customizable features for personal electronics, medical and space-constrained industrial applications. Specific deployments are anticipated in point-of-sale devices and handheld medical equipment that will benefit from 15-W wireless power. Fixed-frequency operation helps achieve highest 15-W efficiency as well as reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Fast-charge negotiation with mobile devices enables the transfer of up to 10W to compatible receivers, including existing fast-charging devices on the market. The High-Voltage Dedicated Charging Port (HVDCP) protocol negotiates with capable AC/DC wall adapters to adjust the input voltage. The rail control output provides power to deliver a full 15W with inputs between 15 and 19 V, and enables lower power operation, such as 5 W, with inputs as low as 5 V.

Evaluate the device’s features and performance with the bq501210 evaluation module (EVM). The bq501210EVM-756 is available for $149. A blog post addresses, “What does wireless power mean for industrial applications?

The bq501210 transmitter in a 9 x 9-mm very thin quad flat no-lead (VQFN) package is priced at $3.75 (1,000).
