The company was formed by a team of executives with SoC development experience at soft-modem fabless chip company Icera, which was sold to Nvidi in 2011 for approximately $400 million (see Icera team forms machine-learning ADAS startup).

“Yes, we are categorically a software company. We think there will be enough hardware companies in the future,” Stan Boland told eeNews Europe via email.

Boland made the point that the priority is software and achieving automotive qualification for it. He qualified this by saying: “I guess there is a tiny possibility that after we successfully build and license our software and it is clearly a global leader, if there are no viable chip solutions by that stage we could add that capability then, but definitely not in parallel.”
