Fog World Congress 2018 demonstrates autonomous mapping robots
The mapping robots will traverse and map the venue floor in real-time to show fog in action, and that fog computing systems from various domains can communicate. Three different robotic domains will map the area. The robots are equipped with LADAR to collect data and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms located in the fog nodes’ gateways to generate the maps. The proof-of-concept robots are designed based on the OpenFog Consortium OpenFog Reference Architecture, which has been adopted in the IEEE standard for fog computing.
Fog World is scheduled for October 1-3 in San Francisco and will be produced by the OpenFog Consortium in collaboration with IEEE Communications Society. The event showcases fog computing use cases, architecture, standards, developments and research.
