
Foundries see annual sales growth abate in October
The world’s leading foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) saw its October sales climb year-on-year by 12.5 percent to NT$127.58 billion (about US$4.46 billion). This was down sequentially by 6.5 percent.
September sales at near neighbour United Microelectronics Corp. were NT$15.28 billion (about US$535 million) up 5.2 percent on the previous month and an increase of 4.8 percent on the same month a year before.
TSMC’s sales for the year to date are NT$1,097 billion (about US$38.4 billion) up 27.7 percent on the first ten months of 2019.
UMC is also doing well with annual sales-to-date of NT$146.8 billion (about $5.13 billion), up 21.4 percent on the equivalent period in 2019.
