Semtech has launched a four line, 5V transient voltage suppression (TVS) array for data ports in industrial, Internet of Things (IoT) and telecommunication designs

The RClamp0504FB offers robust electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and 28A surge immunity in an industry standard six lead SC-70 package.

The TVS array exceeds industry standards for ESD immunity with a 28A Ipp surge rating and is housed in a compact SC-70 package. This footprint presents hardware designers PCB space savings and the familiarity of an established multi-line package. The RClamp0504FB offers an extremely low typical capacitance of 1.1pF, making the device well suited for use in high speed differential interfaces.

“As silicon transceivers continue to scale to smaller geometries, the vulnerability of present day microelectronic devices to overvoltage and surge threats is among the highest it has been in the industry’s history,” said Timothy Puls, Product Marketing Director for Semtech’s Protection Products Group. “The RClamp0504FB is an extremely flexible device that gives hardware engineers an outstanding, versatile solution for protecting a broad range of data interfaces from some of the harshest ESD and surge threats.”

The RClamp0504FB provides transient protection for high-speed data lines to IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) ±30kV (contact), ±24kV (air); IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT) 40A (5/50ns); IEC 61000-4-5 (lightning) 28A (8/20μs) with 5V bi-directional working voltage protection and the 28A surge capability (tp=8/20μs) through a 1.1pF capacitance.

The RClamp0504FB (order code: RClamp0504FB.TCT) is available immediately in production quantities. Semtech offers comprehensive design assistance, including field- and factory-based support.
