Foxconn buys Leuven wireless group to create global RF supplier
Hon Hai Technology, the owner of contract manufacturer Foxconn, has acquired arQana’s Wireless Telecommunications business, including an RF design centre in Leuven, Belgium.
Hai Hon will merge arQana with AchernarTek to create a global RF semiconductor component supplier. This will support Foxconn and third-party customers in the wireless telecommunications markets, including applications in automotive and 5G infrastructure.
The deal will see arQana Taiwan, arQana Belgium, and AchernarTek continue developing their high-performance 5G Sub-6 GHz and mmWave products and expanding into connected cars and electric vehicles (EVs) under the a new brand called iCana.

The acquisition will strengthen the chip supply chain by sharing Foxconn’s expertise in 5G connected EVs, a key area of development for the company. It sees RF semiconductors as a fundamental components for connectivity in EVs.
