Efinix Inc. (Santa Clara, Calif.) was founded in 2012 and launched its first product, the Trion programmable platform, in 2018 (see FPGA startup delivers first product).

Efinix claims that is ‘Quantum’ programmable technology gives it a 4x improvement in power-performance-area over traditional programmable architectures and has received significant investment from FPGA pioneer Xilinx Inc. The Trion platform comprises logic, routing, embedded memory and DSP blocks and has been implemented 40nm CMOS manufacturing process by Chinese foundry Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC).

Efinix claims the Trion T120 FPGAs will start a new era of edge computing and acceleration. Trion FPGAs, offer 4K to 200K logic elements. The Efinity integrated development environment takes users from RTL to bitstream and customers can then migrate on to a Quantum ASIC for high-volume production.

“We will continue to advance our programmable compute platforms, as the development of T200 samples are already underway,” said Sammy Cheung, co-founder and CEO, of Efinix, in a statement.
