The project’s objective is to develop interaction components for contactless, gesture-based human-machine operation, allowing for robot assistance systems and intelligent automation solutions to relieve workers by taking over physically demanding, ergonomically difficult and monotonous tasks.

One example developed by the Fraunhofer HHI is a camera-based 3D near-field and middle-field acquisition system and corresponding information processing for capturing, tracking and interpreting body movements and hand gestures.
