Elring Klinger has developed a low-temperature fuel cell stack based on metallic bipolar plates with a maximum electrical output of 135 kW. The NM12 stack is designed for use in passenger cars and commercial vehicles, runs in hydrogen-air mode and is liquid-cooled. The company speaks of an extremely high power density without specifying it exactly.

Designed as platform solutions requiring a particularly high power density, the NM12 expands the company’s offering which is based on its proprietary PEM technology. “In our system, the stack, hydrogen and air supply, cooling and power electronics as well as the control unit are housed in a self-controlled, protected package with standardized housing technology,” said Stefan Wolf, CEO.
