Operations partially resumed Wednesday at the Fujitsu Integrated Microtechnology Ltd., (FIM) plant in Miyagi prefecture, Fujitsu said. Operations have also partially resumed at the FIM semiconductor testing facility in Aizu-Wakamatsu-shi, Fukushima prefecture, according to the company.

But manufacturing remains halted at three Fujitsu front-end fabs, Fujitsu said. The company said Fujitsu Semiconductor Ltd. plants in Iwate prefecture and Fukushima prefecture, as well as the Fujitsu Semiconductor Technology fab in Fukushima prefecture were "currently in the process of resuming operations for wafers."

Fujitsu provided no details about the condition of the fabs or timetable for manufacturing to resume.

Market research firm IHS iSuppli earlier this week estimated that 50 percent of Fujitsu’s semiconductor production capacity had been knocked off line as a result of the earthquake and subsequent power outages.

Fujitsu said manufacturing of PC servers and at the Fujtisu Isotec Ltd., facility in Date-shi, Fukushima prefecture and manufacturing of desktop PCs at a plant in Shimane prefecture both resumed Wednesday. Manufacturing and shipping of printers at the Date-shi facility resumed Tuesday, Fujitsu said.

Manufacturing and shipping of power supply units and facilities at the Fujitsu Telecom Networks Ltd., plant in Fukushima prefecture also resumed Tuesday, Fujitsu said.

Two Fujitsu plans in Tochigi prefecture—one that produces mobile phones and system products and one that produces optical transmission devices and components—are not affected by rolling blackouts and operating as normal, Fujitsu said.
