As part of Novatel’s family of GSM/GPRS/GPS mobile platforms, the MT 4100 reduces upfront costs for permanent in-vehicle installation of modules for global fleet management and usage-based insurance programmes.
In fleet management applications, the MT 4100 helps to improve safety, increase productivity and reduce costs; whilst for usage-based insurance programmes, such as Pay-As-You-Drive or Pay-How-You-Drive, the MT 4100 provides enhanced driver behaviour reporting, speed violation alerts, distance and duration of travel, as well as time of day reporting.
“ABI Research predicts huge growth in the global insurance telematics market with a CAGR of 90 percent taking the number of users to 89 million in 2017,” explains Martin Kemp, European Sales & Marketing Manager, Acal BFi. “This will create pressure for designers to get feature-rich and highly-differentiated products to market in the shortest possible time.
The technical and commercial expertise of Acal BFi’s wireless specialists will help OEMs to achieve this whilst minimising risk and engineering time.”
The MT 4100 integrates an innovative internal cellular and GPS antenna, in addition to two serial interfaces for expanded peripheral support. Multiple GPIO and configurable driver behaviour reporting, polygon geo-fencing and driver ID capabilities enhance flexibility and functionality. The MT 4100 will be available in GSM/GPRS, CDMA, 1xRTT and HSDPA for superior GPS location, with the on-board Smart Agent event engine to support the Garmin FMI (Fleet Management Interface) v2.7.
Compatibility with Novatel Wireless’ robust N4A Communications and Management Software platform enables remote monitoring, management and reconfiguration from almost anywhere in the world. The combination of the N4A CMS platform, with the intelligence of the MT 4100 wireless platform delivers reliable, superior performance with low installation costs and a compact size.
