The library offers averaging models for bridge circuits in power electronics, which map the behaviour of power semiconductors at high precision in dSpace hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation. The model states are pre-computed, enabling the actual simulation to take place at high speed. For the same reason, users can separate the models to distribute the simulation across multiple computing nodes. Custom building blocks and functions facilitate integrating the models in asynchronous raster and thus help to avoid beat effects.
SimPowerSystems is designed as a set of blocks for Matlab Simulink that enables simulations of electric and power electronic circuits based on a schematic circuit representation. Towards this end, circuit elements such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, solid-state switches or transformers can be placed as library elements into a Simulink model and be linked across symbolic electric connections.
In automotive applications, increasingly electric drives are integrated into basic vehicle, basic and safety-critical functions. Examples are hybrid drives, powertrain actuators, electric power steering and oil or water pumps.
