German direct diode laser maker expands into Asia
The company makes ultra high brilliant direct-diode laser systems for material processing in industrial and medical manufacturing and has signed contracts with Japan Laser Corporation for Japan, laser Spectronix for South Korea, A & P Instrument for China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, and NewSpec for Australia and New Zealand.
"Guying decisions in Asia and Australasia are mainly influenced by cost and performance," said Wolfgang Gries, CEO of DPI. "With the recovery of these outstanding sales organizations as well as the technical differentiation of DPI technology for ultra-high brilliant direct-diode laser systems, we expect to be in this region for a fast and high market penetration can. "
The company was started in 2011 based on a High-Power Direct Diode Laser technology platform developed and patented by Fraunhofer USA, and provides ultra-high brightness and optical beam parameters in order to penetrate industrial applications currently occupied by CO2 gas lasers and solid state lasers.
The platform is disruptive because diode laser photons are directly applied to the target material to be processed without the need of conventional laser resonators based on complex fiber and solid-state designs. This provides a scalable modular platform into the multi-kW range with wavelength agility for high efficiency and pulse tailoring that includes high-speed modulation.
